Center for Community Advancement and Transformative Growth

We believe in the advancement of communities through both the transformative growth of the individual and the transformative growth of the community around them. Communities advance in different ways. In one, economic mobility might mean advancement; in another, advancement may be represented by greater social awareness and broader perspectives. Each community and individual is unique. Our projects focus on the local context in order to provide a meaningful impact to individuals and communities. Local changes can inspire systemic transformation.

Social networks and information access

We believe that money isn’t always the answer, sometimes access to information is all it takes. Different social circles have access to different sources of information and resources. Networks are important for decision making, goal setting, and accomplishing goals. We believe everyone can do great things.

Art in public spaces

Much of what we consider beautiful or desirable is conveyed to us visually. Art can capture beauty. It can also capture emotions and tell stories that are essential to share. Art challenges stereotypes and offers alternative viewpoints. It celebrates differences while revealing commonalities. Art in public spaces can push us to constantly improve.

An equitable education system

Inequities in education are everywhere. Often, we are aware of these issues in other countries, but they also exist in every state, city, town and neighborhood. We believe there are many ways to strengthen the education system. Little changes add up to big ones. Individuals and communities can help by taking ownership of these issues in their local school district. By having educated citizens, our society flourished.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world.

Indeed it’s the only thing that ever has.”

— Margaret Mead
