3-weeks to Action Challenge

The challenge: Over the next 3 weeks, you will prepare the foundation for one interaction or project that enhances the quality of life for others within your local community.

The following is a mental and emotional exercise program. Just like physical exercise programs, it’s a gradual process that requires endurance and persistence, and when you complete it, you are much stronger, resilient, and have a sense of accomplishment.

Week 1: Learn about the issue

Educate yourself on the root causes of the issue at hand. Use reputable sources. Be open to uncomfortable findings or upsetting outlooks. When you start doing something about it and engaging with others to do better, these feelings melt away.

Week 2: Have a conversation with someone about it

Discuss what you learned with someone. Share the knowledge you’ve gained and invite that person to think with you about what steps could be taken locally (in your workplace, school, family, neighborhood, or city) to address the issue.

Week 3: Create a plan of action

Plan for action. Create a step by step guide on what you’re going to do next. Practice what you’re going to say, find contact information or resources you’ll need, reach out to others who might be interested in working with you.

Week 4: Act local for systemic change

Apply your action plan to improve the issue in your local community. Tell us about it using the “I did it!” button below.

You might find that as you complete this challenge, you will want to do more. Keep going, keep learning, and keep trying new ways to address other issues. We are all learning together.
